    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Partners for Wetlands broadcast on Dutch television
Dutch television will feature documentaries on the Kafue Flats and Kinabatangan river this fall. The documentaries show how Partners for Wetlands works together with local business and authorities to restore and preserve these areas for the future. Of course, the extraordinary beauty and wildlife of these wetlands will also be shown prominently. At the date of press the exact schedule for the documentaries was not yet available. If you have the opportunity to see them, don't miss them!

Introducing new Partners for Wetlands manager
    Dear partners!

Through this short announcement I would like to introduce myself. On the 1st of July 2000, I started working for WWF Netherlands as responsible for the Partners for Wetlands portfolio.

During the eight years before I have been working on a large river rehabilitation project in The Netherlands on behalf of the Dutch Government, a project in which a number of private partners were involved. As a private activity, I have done a number of field projects on wetlands in the Mediterranean, Middle East and West Africa. I am 39 years old, have two daughters and I have studied forestry and land and water management (mainly ecology oriented).

Of course this column is too short to present myself in detail, but I'm sure my regular visits to the projects and their partners will compensate that. I'm really looking forward to meet you all and hope that we will continue and further improve our collaboration in favour of our challenging projects. Within our 'Dutch team', composed by Michel van Delft (finances), Leen de Jong (final responsible) and myself (general management and technical aspects) we are sure we will be successful in our achievements.

    Hope to see you soon!
