WWF Brazil presses for commitment to protecting freshwater
Brasilia - In June 2003 WWF-Brazil officially launched its campaign "Water for Life, Water for All" in Brasilia to mark World Environmental Day. A 30 metre-high banner was mounted on the TV Tower, a prominent landmark in the Brazilian capital to urge a greater commitment to conserving freshwater resources.

New agreement will help restore Zambia's Kafue Flats
In June this year, WWF, Zambia Electricity Supply Company Ltd (ZESCO), and Zambia's Ministry of Energy and Water Development (MEWD) signed a landmark agreement worth 826,441 euros to jointly fund and implement an Integrated Water Resource Management Programme for the Kafue Flats. The project will contribute towards the restoration of the natural ecosystem which is dependent on the natural flooding regime of the Flats.

Wetland Ambassadors to help restore river networks along the Yangtze
Wuhan – Over 60 conservation experts, enthusiasts and students recently gathered at Wuhan University in Hubei Province to commence this year’s Wetland Ambassador Action Campaign. Borneo's elephants are an evolutionary significant unit (ESU)
Kota Kinabalu - Recent DNA sampling has shed light on why the elephants of Borneo are so different from their cousins on mainland Asia and Sumatra. They are smaller in size and have relatively bigger ears and longer tails in proportion to their bodies.

Sawit Kinabalu Berhad makes commitment to conservation
Kota Kinabalu - Yet another piece of the Kinabatangan wildlife corridor jigsaw puzzle fell into place in August 2003 when Sawit Kinabalu Berhad formalised its decision to reserve 1,260 hectares of its Sungai Pin Estate in Batu Putih for a conservation and reforestation project.
